February 22, 2015For some of us, it feels like this winter will never end. But there is a silver lining to being snowed in: binge watching tv shows and hammering away on the next cons cosplay. We also have another solution here at the GCE, reading up on all the news you may have missed during the long week. So without further ado, we give you some of the best news you may have missed during the week.
∴ Mortal Kombat X has had everyone buzzing these past few months. With Tom McFarlane granting permission to NetherRealm Studios to use Spawn, there may be even more reasons to be stoked. While it isn’t set in stone what NetherRealm Studios will do with Spawn, Mortal Kombat X seems likely, as does Injustice: Gods Among Us 2.
∴ There were a lot of names announced joining Marvel and Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse films. Here is the list bulleted:
– Gina Carano and Morena Baccarin joined Deadpool
– Kodi Smitt Mc-Phee joined X-Men: Apocalypse as a young Nightcrawler
– Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval joined Jessica Jones
∴ Game broadcaster company Twitch is doing something big this year. They just announced their own convention later this year in San Francisco. TwitchCon will be held September 25-26, more info can be found on their blog listed here.
∴ Cartoon Network is delighting us all but rebooting the much beloved 90’s cartoon, The Powerpuff Girls. We can’t wait for the sugar, spice, and everything nice in 2016!
∴ This years Free Comic Book Day is set to break records. For the first Saturday is May will see more than 5.6 million copies of comic books have been ordered, a 21 percent from 2014. There will be 50 free comics to chose from, you can read about a few of them here.
