The Geeky Weekly: August 2 – August 9August 9, 2015
The GCE had a great weekend last week putting on the 24-hour game-a-thon to benefit charity Free the Children. A big and hearty thank you to all who donated, congratulations to all those who won some AMAZING prizes, and to all who still want to help out or get involved- stay tuned – the Geek Chic Elite is thinking about having some more events and prize opportunities in the foreseeable future.
The Geeky Weekly has the goods for you as always. Enjoy!
∴ Calling all wizards, guess who has joined the cast of Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? Hollywood heavyweight Colin Farrell has been signed to the David Yates project. Reportedly Farrell will be playing a character named Graves who encounters Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander. Graves is also a wizard. With the name alone it sounds like Farrell will be interesting.
∴ Sony dropped a big film announcement, listing the dates for movies up to 2017 (and a few after that as well). Dates for Money Monster, The Shallows, Ghostbusters, Patient Zero, The Magnificent Seven, Underworld 5, Passengers, Jumanji, The Dark Tower, Resident Evil 6, Bad Boys 3, Baby Driver, Barbie, Uncharted, and The Lamb are all scheduled for the next two years. Bad Boys 4 is also planned for 2019 and Sony’s Spider-Man is slated for release on July 28, 2017. With this massive movie line-up posted, what are you most excited for?
∴ The Netflix series helmed by the Wachowski siblings Sense8 was given the green light for a second season. Netflix made the announcement of its part sci-fi and part thriller series on Twitter, followed by the cast all celebrating. Sense8 follows a group of people all over the world connected by being in the same cluster, tapping into each other’s minds to call on them for help or to use a certain skill.
∴ The producers of Agent Carter talked about the new villain for season 2. While Peggy Carter is moving to California this season, the new villain is none other than prominent Marvel villain Madame Masque. Producers Tara Butters and Chris Dingess are taking their own spin on Madame Masque, turning her into a 1940’s screen siren, similar to the likes of Hedy Lamar (please look her up, she’s amazing). Madame Masque is usually Iron Man’s villain, so it will be interesting to see how she translates into the bygone years, perhaps if Dominic Cooper isn’t too busy with Preacher, Madame Masque will be also tangling with the elder Stark.
∴ You’re about to see Archie and the Riverdale gang in a whole new way. This is because Funny or Die is bringing the longtime comic book group to stage – a Broadway stage. There is already a website up for you to get notified on the production. Click here for more!
