The Geeky Weekly: April 26 – May 3
May 3, 2015If the White House Correspondent’s Dinner is referred to as ‘Nerd Prom,’ then this entire week should be known as ‘Nerd Christmas.’ With Avengers: Age of Ultron finally opening to the rest of the world and Free Comic Book Day celebrating the very best of comics. Not to mention, May the Fourth is on Monday and the Geeky Weekly is excited to see all the renewed excitement for the unofficial Star Wars holiday with the recent The Force Awakens storm.
∴ In a recent interview with ComingSoon, actor Michael Fassbender said Assassin’s Creed would begin filming in September of this year. The film, slated for a December 21, 2016 release, has not yet announced what role Fassbender is playing.
∴ The first look of Will Smith’s Deadshot for DC’s highly-anticipated Suicide Squad movie surfaced this week. While it shows Deadshot in his civilian clothes, the pictures from the set are pretty revealing for his character. Note Headshot’s missing bionic eye. These photos come a week after director David Ayer shared the first look of Jared Leto’s Joker. Currently, the rumor mill is circulating that Ayer’s picture of Leto is a ruse. Only time will tell.
∴ In the world of first-looks, X-Men Apocalypse director Bryan Singer shared a picture of Jubilee and a young Jean Grey. Jubilee, played by newcomer Lana Condor, and Grey played by Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner are decked out in 80’s style fashion.

∴ Continuing on in first looks (it seems like everyone wanted to show off this week), Arrow’s Stephen Amell showed off his Casey Jones look in Teenage Mutant Ninga Turtles 2 photos. It is definitely not the Green Arrow suit!
∴ Circling back to Star Wars, Fantastic Four director Josh Trank, who had been signed to direct the second film in the current Star Wars anthology has left the project. The parting appears amicable with both Lucasfilms and Trank penning appreciative notes about his departure.
∴ Batman: Arkham Knight already has a few DLC’s under its belt, and the most recent on is Batgirl. This means Batgirl will be a playable character during gameplay. The game will be released on PS4, X-Box One, and PC on June 23 this year.
∴ Language learning app Duolingo is answering someone’s prayers. Starting in 2016, the app will offer lessons in Star Trek’s fictitious Klingon language. How do we say live long and prosper?
That’s it for this week, the Geeky Weekly will be back next week. Too bad Nerd Christmas will be over… until next year!
