One Thing You May Have Missed About the Star Wars Trailer
April 20, 2015Given how epic the recently released Star Wars: Force Awakens trailer is, there’s been a lot of coverage both online and in traditional media outlets. The coverage has pored over nearly every possible topic and angle of the trailer. There are breakdowns of what’s happening when, who some of the masked characters may be, and what each of them could be doing.
For this original trilogy fan, the trailer hits all the right notes. It hearkens back to the past but gives many clear examples that this new trilogy is very much about the future. In essence, it’s perfect.
Something that hasn’t gotten any coverage as yet (that I’ve seen) is something that Luke Skywalker says in his opening monologue.
“The Force is strong in my family. My father has it. I have it. My sister has it. You have that power too.”
The second sentence is what you may have missed.
Luke clearly says “My father HAS” it. He doesn’t say ‘had’ but instead he is speaking in the present. Is this a monologue long past or a secret reveal?
Does this mean Anakin Skywalker is going to make an appearance during Star Wars: The Force Awakens? If so, how will they do that and what might the premise of it be? Perhaps it is a mere mistake or it could be a huge clue into the movie that not only sparks interest but intrigue. However, only time will tell in this case.
See for yourself! Luke’s monologue starts around the 37 second mark, you can watch the trailer below.
So what do you think? Harmless flub? A monologue long past? Or perhaps a clue to the next episode installment we all can’t wait for? Sound off in the comments below to let us know what you think!
I think this is actually going to be Luke Skywalker’s SON speaking and not Luke. The voice also sounds much cleaner/younger than Hamill’s voice currently does.
I took it to mean that Anakin has the Force in the afterlife. We all know that those that are strong in the ways of the Force can interact with the living as a Force Ghost just as Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Anakin did with Luke after the Battle of Endor. In that sense, they do still have the Force, even though they are physically dead.
