Melissa Benoist Stands Proudly in Supergirl Costume
March 6, 2015Today the first pictures of Melissa Benoist posing in her new Supergirl costume hit the internet. Designed by master costume designer and Academy Award winner Colleen Atwood (Arrow, Into the Woods, Alice in Wonderland, Edward Scissorhands, really the list goes on and on), it is the first time we are seeing the costume for the CBS show.
The costume, with a darker color palette than the comic book counterpart still has the iconic cape, mini skirt, and thigh high boots, but with the addition of tights. Atwood’s take on Kara Zor-El/Kara Danvers is more conservative than recent comic depictions, but is still monumental and elegant for the character.
Not only were the pictures posted online, but executive producer Andrew Kreisburg tweeted out that production for the show started this week. The show is expected to air later this year or early 2016.
