Katheryn Winnick Wants To Be Captain MarvelMarch 6, 2015
Even before Marvel officially announced the Captain Marvel movie at their press event at the El Capitan Theater in Los Angeles in October 2014, rumors had been swirling that Katee Sackhoff was in talks to play Carol Danvers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She even tweeted that she’d worn a red spandex suit to a meeting with Marvel legend and Danvers’ creator, Stan Lee. Since the film was officially announced for a July 2018 release (now bumped to November, 2018), the Sackhoff rumors have certainly died down, but several other actresses have either expressed interest or have had their names thrown out to play one of Marvel‘s most dynamic and facilitating characters. These actresses include Rosamund Pike, Yvonne Strahovski, Natalie Dormer, Shailene Woodley, Jessica Chastain, and the current fan favorite to play Carol – Emily Blunt. But now, Vikings star Katheryn Winnick has expressed interest in playing Danvers. Back in November, Winnick posted this fan edited picture on her official Instagram account:
But, this past week, the Katheryn Winnick as Carol Danvers rumor reached new heights when an interview hit YouTube where she speaks about the desire to play the Captain Marvel character. With her history of playing one badass chick in Vikings, it’s not a stretch to see her as the superheroine. Her character Lagartha has been through a lot, including battling alongside her fellow Vikings and her former husband, Ragnar Lothbrok. Check out the video interview below and tell us if you think Winnick would make a good Captain Marvel based off that fan edit. If not, who would you choose?
