Captain America to Say Final Goodbye to His Best Girl?
May 16, 2015If you are a Marvel fan, it is probably pretty likely that you’ve seen both Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: Winter Solider. You may have also seen the eight part mini-series titled Agent Carter, a show that followed none other than Peggy Carter herself and Steve’s ‘best girl’.
It was a little bit heart wrenching to watch Peggy and Steve reunite after 70 years apart in Winter Soldier; what felt like minutes for Steve was a lifetime for his girl that he left behind, and in Agent Carter, we see a lot of that hurt come to the surface. Hayley Atwell is perfect as Carter and has received a lot of praise and acclaim from viewers. So much love was given to the show, in fact, that it was recently renewed for a second season. What was once intended as a ‘one shot’ is now moving forward into more adventures of Peggy, the Howling Commandos, Edwin Jarvis, and hopefully Howard Stark as well.

However, things do not look so prosperous in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. If you are a comic reader and have read the Civil War story arc, you know that this is just the beginning of bad things to come and the conflicts that will rise to a boiling point.
With new set photos that appear to show Steve Rogers as a pallbearer to a casket that has a British flag draped over it, fans may only be able to surmise one thing: Steve has to say his final goodbye to his best girl. Admittedly, it isn’t much of a surprise given her age and the less than stellar shape she was in when they finally reunited, and it is likely not to be the only death that fans will see in Captain America: Civil War. What isn’t seen in the photos below is that Emily VanCamp, who plays Sharon Carter (Agent 13 in Winter Solider) also in attendance at what could be her aunts funeral. Several set photos show not only Steve, but Sharon Carter and Sam Wilson.
Captain America: Civil War won’t hit theaters until April 29th 2016 so we won’t have our answers until then, and Marvel is pretty good at surprising us with twists and turns, but for this Ship Captain, it seems quite obvious that I may need some tissues going into this film.
What do you think? Could the set pictures reveal that Steve may have to bury his first true love? Let us know in the comments!
