It’s official. The Preacher has spoken, and the word is good: AMC has renewed the twisted, critically acclaimed, series for a second season, and bumped its episode order to 13 (from season 1’s 10.)
This is good news. In my review of the pilot I remarked that I was afraid that the complex plot may turn some away was completely wrong. I’ve never been happy to be so wrong: Preacher is the #2 new series on cable this year among adults 18-49 and 25-53 and is averaging 3.3 million viewers per episode (by way of comparison, AMC’s critically acclaimed drama Mad Men saw 3.287 million viewers tune in for its final episode, so not a bad place for Preacher to be.)
Have you missed an episode or two?
Well this tonight, AMC will air a “Preacher” catch-up/DVR marathon of the first five episodes of the current season, starting at 9:00 p.m. and running through 2:35 a.m. Friday morning.
The sixth episode appears on AMC this Sunday in the show’s regular timeslot at 9:00 p.m.
