For the Sixth year in a row, Vikings has had an activation on the floor at San Diego Comic-Con; its content has varied throughout the years, but what hasn’t, is the goal of bringing fans deep into the world of the show.
2018 proved no exception.
This year fans were welcomed into the Seer’s Lair, an amazing recreation of the location in Kattegat from the show. But more than that…fans had the opportunity to call on the seer to use his powers of foresight…either to ask questions about the future of their favorite characters, or…if they dared…about their own.
Say what you want about fortune telling, the seer was eerily accurate about one thing: the Vikings’ mid-season premiere airs on Wednesday, November 28th at 9 pm ET/PT on HISTORY in Canada and the United States.
Now if the seer had access to the internet, he may have been able to review this press release containing everything fans need to know about the upcoming premiere…but consulting the bones seems more plausible, so let’s go with that.
The Seer’s Lair was a popular attraction amongst fans at Comic-Con, with many lining up to consult the oracle, and get a shareable cinemagraph, a subtly moving photo that chronicled their visit.
In a massive surprise for fans, on their panel day, the creative team and cast paid a visit to the Seer’s Lair on the convention floor.
Vikings‘ Creator Michael Hirst and actors Katheryn Winnick, Georgia Hirst, and Alexander Ludwig visited the seer and sought their fates, which just goes to show…even when you know all the answers…it never hurts to confirm them.
It feels like an eternity since the Vikings mid-season finale in the spring.
When last we visited their world, Rollo, brother of Ragnar, and uncle to Ivar, Hvitserk, and Bjorn, is sailing back into their lives, but to what end?
Lagertha and her allies, including her son Bjorn Ironside, have been dealt a defeat, and her control of Kattegat may be slipping.
Will Ivar the Boneless succeed in his quest to slay Lagertha and avenge the death of his mother?
And how will Rollo, now married to the princess of Frankia, fit into this? Will be be an ally or an enemy? Or both?
So many questions remain unanswered.
While, for the most part, the Seer was mum on the details of the premiere, he did seem to mutter something I interpreted thus: the victories and defeats of men are of little consequence to the gods…but family…
He stopped speaking, smiled, and dismissively waved toward the exit.
BUT FAMILY WHAT?!
