The MMRPG gets a big pre-Christmas update!
December 22, 2024The MMRPG (Marvel Multiverse Roleplaying Game) got a pretty sizeable upgrade this holiday season…and it’s a gift for everyone!
There’s a ton of content, which includes some news, some new product information, and some teasers for future products.
Let’s dive right in!
News

Discord – The MMRPG is now fully enabled for play on Discord. In partnership with Roll20, you can integrate the game your server without using any other apps. You can play free content like the Enter: Hydra introductory scenario, or purchase content like Deadpool Role-Plays the Marvel Universe and play with your friends.
Chances are you’re already gaming with your friends on Discord, so this is a pretty cool new integration that I’m excited to take for a sling. A web-sling, that is.
Spider-verse – Production on the Spider-Verse Expansion is now officially wrapped. The developer update doesn’t include a ton of detail on what fans can look forward to, but it does include a full list of character profiles that will appear. Scroll to the bottom of this article for the full list.
Kindle – The X-Men Expansion is now available in a Kindle edition, through Amazon. They also note that the Kindle edition of Spider-Verse will release on the same day as the physical title.
FAQ – It’s been updated. The developers have been consistently soliciting player feedback to improve the game and it’s making its way into rules clarifications and updates. Learn more at marvel.com/rpg.
New Accessories
Marvel has partnered with CMON to create some new accessories to mutate your game into something new and exciting. This really fills what I saw as the only gap in this product line and the stuff looks sick.

X-Men Dice – These eye-catching yellow and blue d6s will bring your players to the table faster than “To me, my X-Men”.
Useable in all your games, and with the Marvel logo replacing the 1 on the Marvel die, they look pretty cool.
This is definitely something I’m keen to pick up, but as I’ve mentioned in previous reviews of dice accessories of this type pricing is a factor.
No doubt they are a rank 6 in terms of look, though.

Narrator Bundles – This is a big one! The Narrator Bundles include everything a player will need to tell epic Marvel stories on their own including tokens for all the characters from the Core Rulebook (that you’ll be able to use on the included dry-erase battle board) and a Narrator Screen with art by Alex Ross that showcases many of Marvel’s most famous characters.
It also includes game information and quick reference materials printed on the opposite side so you can find those important rules in a pinch, without looking at your book.

This is a great addition!
Alongside the Multiverse bundle comes the X-Men Narrator bundle, which, unsurprisingly, provides additional support those Narrators running an X-Men themed game. It includes tokens for all the characters from the X-Men Expansion as well as some its maps like the X-Cavern, Blackbird and more.
The art on the screen pays homage to the classic cover of X-Men #1.
Starter Set – The Escape From Planet Hulk Starter Set Retail Edition (pictured above) is expected to hit stores early next year, and is aimed at introducing players to the game in a streamlined way.
It features a custom adventure story, tokens, exclusive dice, maps, six character sheets (Wolverine, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Storm, Captain America, and Black Widow), along with a power booklet that includes those character’s powers, and an abridged rulebook that contains all the game information to get started.
It looks like a pretty cool package, all told, and if the price is right, this will be a great pickup for Marvel fans, regardless of their experience level.
Conclusion
There is a lot to love in this update – new products, new news, sneak peeks at forthcoming content. It’s just enough information to make me excited for what’s to come, and want even more.
2025 is going to be another great year for the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game.
Happy New Year! And may all your dice rolls come up 6 – 1 – 6.
