Superman and Lois Soar in Debut, renewed for S2

Superman and Lois’ debut went about as well as it could have. It received positive reaction from critics and fans alike, had solid ratings for The CW, giving the network its best night in a year, and now comes the news that the show has already been renewed for season 2.

Talk about a good week!

The show focuses on the adult relationship of Superman and Lois and includes two teenaged sons Jonathan and Jordan. They’re called back to Smallville and while there begin asking some tough questions about what comes next for their family.

It was an enjoyable watch and did just enough worldbuilding to make the next episode seem really far away.

It’s not surprising the show got renewed, though, as The CW had a big hole in its primetime schedule. Anchor shows Arrow, Supergirl, and Black Lightning have been cancelled, so they need to broadcast something.

Tyler Hoechlin is great as Superman, and builds on the strong performance he showed in previous Arrowverse appearances. The contrast of Hoechlin’s Superman to the dark vision of The Man of Steel in the DCEU is wonderful.

He’ll soar for at least one more season; probably more.
