Netflix Reportedly Crafting ‘Punisher’ Spinoff Series
January 16, 2016We have only seen him in promotional stills for the upcoming second season of Netflix and Marvel’s ‘Daredevil,’ but according to TVLine.com, it looks like Frank Castle will be getting his own spinoff series.
While Marvel already has ‘Daredevil’ and ‘Jessica Jones’ on their queue, with ‘Luke Cage’ coming out sometime this year, and ‘Iron Fist’ confirmed by show runners to not be on the back burner, it looks like Jon Bernthal will get to keep his job. There is no telling if the Punisher will be apart of ‘The Defender’ series, but we will see him in alongside Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Deborah Ann-Woll as Karen Page and Elodie Yung as Elekta, when the second season of ‘Daredevil’ drops on Netflix on March 18. Bernthal, who is known for his roles comic book show The Walking Dead as Shane Walsh, and Sicario’s Ted.
Punisher, as you may or may not know, is an antihero created by comic book writer Gerry Conway and artist John Romita Sr. He made his first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #129 in February 1974. In 2004, Marvel brought Frank Castle and his tragic tale to the big screen in a movie unrelated to their current Marvel Cinematic Universe. Frank Castle was played by Thomas Jane.
