I Kill Giants to Hit the Big Screen

Acclaimed graphic novel I Kill Giants is to be adapted into a film.

Slashfilm is reporting that Chris Columbus (Harry Potter, Gremlins) will produce the movie, which will be directed by Anders Walter (Helium). Treehouse Pictures has come on board to finance the project.

I Kill Giants is a wonderful comic, originally published as a limited series in 2008 and 2009 by Image, written by Joe Kelly (Action Comics, Deadpool) and illustrated by J. M. Ken Niimura. It focuses on a feisty young girl, named Barbara Thorson, who is obsessed with the monsters she believes she is battling.

It’s one of the most beautiful, heartbreaking comics I’ve ever read. If it doesn’t make you cry, you must have a heart of stone.

Kelly, who is a member of the Man of Action collective, will write the film’s script and produce. There is no release date yet, but shooting is believed to be starting this year
