Five Nights At Freddy’s Screams its Way to a Film Deal
April 8, 2015The nightmarish animatronics of the hit horror game, Five Nights At Freddy’s, may be headed to a theater near you! Warner Bros. just picked up the rights to Scott Cawthon’s hit video game trilogy with plans to adapt it for the silver screen!
For those unfamiliar with the game, Five Nights at Freddy’s is a point-and-click survival-horror title where players play as a security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. As the night progresses the animatronics in the restaurant come to life and try to kill the player. With only a limited amount of power, players must stop the animatronics from reaching them using doors, lights, and security cameras. The sequels to Five Nights At Freddy’s expand upon the concept, making it more difficult for the player.
Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment and Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions have both been tapped to produce the horror-film adaption.
“We’re looking forward to working with Scott to make an insane, terrifying and weirdly adorable movie,” said Grahame-Smith.
There’s hardly anything adorable about Five Nights At Freddy’s, but it will be interesting to see how the producers and writers incorporate the game’s hidden story into a feature film. With three games to build a story on the Five Nights team have a lot of lore to choose from. Perhaps we’ll get a trilogy of films all based around the murders that occured at Fazbear’s Pizza or maybe our lonely security guard will finally get the pay raise they deserve. Let’s not think about how frightening the animatronics will look with CGI!
Five Night’s At Freddy’s is out to writers and there is no word on when the movie will begin filming.
