Award Winners Announced For Toronto After Dark Film Festival 2018
October 29, 2018Toronto After Dark Film Festival is thrilled to announce the Award Winners of its 13th Annual Edition. As is the tradition at Toronto After Dark, the Jury were the fans themselves with over 5,000 votes cast this year by festival-goers to determine the best new horror, sci-fi and action movies from the around the world!
ANNA & THE APOCALYPSE, the British Zombie Musical directed by John McPhail took Top Prize, the Audience Choice Award for BEST FEATURE FILM GOLD plus four other Specialty Awards including BEST ENSEMBLE CAST and BEST MUSIC. BEST FEATURE FILM SILVER went to TIGERS ARE NOT AFRAID, Issa Lopez’s supernatural dark fairytale which also took home five additional awards including BEST DIRECTOR and BEST FEMALE ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE for the young lead Paola Lara. The World War II Action Horror movie OVERLORD, directed by Julius Avery and co-produced by J.J.Abrams took home BEST FEATURE FILM BRONZE as well as three additional awards including BEST CG EFFECTS.
Additional Major Winners in the Specialty Categories included I AM A HERO which won five awards including BEST ACTION FILM and SATAN’S SLAVES which won two awards including BEST HORROR FILM.
