Welcome to the Wild West: A Cosplay Photoset

In 2010, Rockstar Games released a game called Red Dead Redemption, something akin to Grand Theft Auto if it took place in 1911. The protagonist, John Marsden, a former outlaw with a dark past, works with the government to round up some of the most dangerous men in the Old West, but only because they are holding his wife and son hostage. The open-world action-adventure Western was incredibly popular, garnering high praise from game reviewers and players alike. There are even rumors of a second game in the works.

Cosplayer Ben Van Dyken decided to make his own John Marsden costume and took some photos in a rustic looking cabin to really capture the feel of the Old West that the game did so well in producing. Even the cougar, a statue on the lawn where Van Dyken works, adds to the atmosphere of the photos. (And if you’ve ever played the game, you know how terrifying and annoying those cougars are – if you haven’t played the game yet, go pick up a copy for cheap and you’ll have lots of hours to enjoy gunslinging your day away)
