The Geeky Weekly: October 25 – November 1
November 1, 2015Here at the Geeky Weekly we hope you had a wonderful and spooky Halloween, or, as we like to refer to it as another reason to cosplay. Good thing a cosplayer doesn’t have to wait 365 days to dress up again.
Without further ado, The Geeky Weekly:
∴ David Tennant and Catherine Tate, yes, the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble, are coming back to Doctor Who. Sort of. The beloved duo are featuring in three audio dramas that will hit shelves and online stores May 2016. The first episode is called Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor Adventures: Technophobia, the second is called Time Reaver and the third is Death and the Queen. We’re still excited the pair will be bantering away, even if it is only through the airwaves. Hopefully, Tate will bring full Donna back and we will be delighted with plenty of Oi’s!
∴ Thor: Ragnarok will begin filming in June 2016 with pre-production beginning in January. Most notably is that the filming will be taking place in Queensland, Australia. Marvel Executive Editor Ryan Penagos called the production on the This Week in Marvel podcast the Bringing the Thunder to Down Under. Whether or not that is the official tagline, as all Marvel Cinematic projects get the false name treatment while filming, was unclear. Thor: Ragnarok will be in theaters nearly two years from now on November 3, 2017 and will be directed by Taika Waititi.
∴ Nintendo has officially announced the replacement to Club Nintendo. The new service, linking your Nintendo console to PC and mobile will simply be called My Nintendo. The data sharing will be stored in a cloud. There are mumblings that My Nintendo will also expand into Nintendo’s non-gaming ventures such as theme parks, movie theaters, and more.
∴ Daniel Radcliffe has enchanted our movie screens for well over a decade, and the actor is getting to show off his triumphant career with a Hollywood star on the Walk of Fame. Radcliffe will be on hand for the dedication ceremony on November 12, along with Harry Potter director Chris Columbus and comedian Chris Hardwick. You can watch the livestream on the Walk of Fame website on Nov. 12 here.
∴ Daniel Radcliffe’s Harry Potter co-star was also in the news this week. Rupert Grint, Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter universe, is reportedly filming a pilot for NBC. The only information we know is that there is a comic book connection where Rupert plays a New York Cited-based employee obsessed with comic books. Sounds like us, to be honest. We will keep you updated with any further information.
∴ You can buy a real Nuka-Cola. Betheseda Softworks, the company in charge of creating Fallout and the upcoming Fallout 4 title teamed up with the soft drink company Jones Soda to create the promotional beverage called Nuka-Cola Quantum. You’ll be able to pick up the drinks on November 10 at Target’s across the United States.
∴ It has been a bumpy ride for the Pacific Rim sequel, but alas, director Guillermo Del Toro has spoken via Twitter and confirmed the budget and have been sent in for Pacific Rim 2. While there is no confirmation from the movie studio if the budget and script have been accepted, it is still a sign of moving forward.
