The Geeky Weekly: May 17 – May 24

News is a 24-hour thing. And while I keep my eyes peeled open all day to hear the latest news, sometimes things fall through the cracks. The Geeky Weekly is a way to wrap-up what may have been missed in one neat package. Feast your eyes friends.

∴ Does high velocity make you sweat? Electronic Arts is here to fulfill the void, rebooting the popular racing game franchise Need for Speed. A teaser was released this past week with a full gameplay trailer landing just before E3. The game will be released later in the year for X-box One, PS4 and PC. View the trailer here.

∴ Charge up your Nintendo 3DS, a new Pokémon game is hitting the device in early 2016. Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon is the new title, but not much other information has been revealed other then that. There are rumors the game will self-generate dungeons. Perhaps with Nintendo’s presence at E3 this year we will get some more information.

∴ The new Pokémon game isn’t the only Pokémon news for the week. In a more peculiar strain, the LA Pokémon Boutique is opening from June 6 to July 5 in Los Angeles. The store will sell clothing, décor and other Pokémon merchandise.

∴ DC is launching a new diversity advertising initiative on June 3 called DC YOU. It will incorporate the new 24 titles and 25 ongoing titles with a focus on characters, talent, stories and fans. DC aims to interact with fans more such as engagement at San Diego Comic Con.

∴ Myst was a best-selling first-person adventure game in 1993 that was dethroned by The Sims in 2002. It is now being revived by Hulu as an original series. Hulu is working with Legendary Television and Myst creator Cyan, Inc. to bring the drama to life.

∴ The pilot to CBS’ Supergirl leaked six months ahead of schedule. Rumors swirl saying the leak was baited as it didn’t have branding and especially since it is so early. Are we being thrown for a loop or is CBS and DC side swiped by the leak. If you saw it, what did you think?

∴ Chris Pratt is beginning the Jurassic World press tour and the news came that he is signed on for more Marvel movies then just the Guardians of the Galaxy vein. What other films would you like to see Star-Lord (you know the legendary outlaw) pop up in?

Look away now if you don’t want potential spoilers for Captain America: Civil War and Suicide Squad.

∴ Not one to give out spoilers, but as Captain America: Civil War  films in Atlanta with the largest Marvel cast yet, actor Frank Grillo, who had been spotted on set in full Crossbones attireannounced he wrapped filming via his Instagram. Grillo had been on set for around two weeks which suggests that while his character plays an integral part in the comic variation, his role may be lessened or shorter in the cinematic counterpart. Civil War‘s character list is already longer than Age of Ultron.

∴ In more movie news, set photos and video from Suicide Squad display Harley Quinn and the Joker having multiple scenes of both romance and anger. Margot Robbie was dressed in an outfit more fitting of Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a psychiatric specialist. Harley Quinn origin story perhaps?
