Star Trek Beyond’s Official Trailer Has Landed

Star Trek Beyond’s Official Trailer Has Landed

While people get super excited about Star Wars, Star Trek Beyond decided to remind us that the franchise is also coming back pretty soon. The Paramount has unveiled the very first official trailer of this third installment of the rebooted trilogy.  And from what we can see in this video, the new film seems to be very different from the two previous.

If the plot is still under wraps – despite several photos leaks this summer -, it appears that the crew of the Enterprise will have some problem with their ship. Yeah the USS Enterprise is gonna be destroyed (again). At least, the crew is finally exploring new civilisations and meeting new life…including a very kick-ass female alien played by Sofia Boutella. The new meeting leads to tons of action – maybe too much for a Trek film.

The characters’ dynamic seems to be very different also. While Kirk and Spock used to be a duo, now Kirk is going on a mission with the new alien while Spock and Bones have to work together – and this one seems really fun considering how different the two characters are. Hopefully we’ll finally be seeing more of Bones and more of the rest of the crew who are all involved in this adventure.

This is the first film to be not directed by J.J Abrams who is just the produced for this one. Justin Lin replaced him in the director’s chair with a screenplay written by Simon Pegg and Doug Jung. Star Trek Beyond stars all the previous cast including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho. This year the team welcomes Sofia Boutella as a new alien and Idris Elba as the big villain of the film.

Planned to be screened before Star Wars: the Force Awakens, the trailer leaked earlier today leading the Studio to release an official trailer on its own page:

Star Trek Beyond will hit theaters on July 22, 2016.
