Outlander: Date and Trailer Drop for Season Two

Vive Les Frasers!

At long last, Starz made Outlander fans quite happy today. The channel not only released a new trailer, but photos and most importantly, the premiere date. Mark your calendars and DVR’s for April 9.

The wait will soon be over for the fans of the show – based on Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling books series. This time, the story will take place far away from Scotland as at the end of the season one, Claire Randall Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) moved to France. But the life of the Frasers in Paris won’t be just about couture and luxury.

The trailer, posted by People magazine and Entertainment Weekly, shows the couple trying to infiltrate the French aristocracy and stop the impending Battle of Culloden as Claire knows this will be a disaster for the Scottish. Oh, and the Frasers are also expecting a baby! So not only did they have the fate of Scotland in their hands but they have a baby to take care of.

There will be a shift in how the action unveils on the show, thinning on sword fights but amping up the drama.

The danger and Paris is Versailles is less physical with the swords and weaponry. It’s more politics and backstabbing and poison. It’s more hidden,” Heughan said in an interview with IGN. “There’s a lot of politics at work and a lot more danger. It’s a different kind of world. But we certainly do go back to Scotland where we go back to the mud and blood and gore, so there’s something for everyone.”

And Claire and Jamie’s relationship will be strained, Jamie still fears Claire may leave him and return to the future. Talking about the future (or present), we can see that Frank is still hoping for her wife to come back and it seems that… well you shouldn’t watch the trailer if you don’t want to know any spoilers.

Along with the trailer, the channel shared over social media a little picture of the couple in a Parisian setting. You may recognize Claire wearing the famous red dress all the fans have been waiting eagerly for.

This new season will not only take place in another country but welcomes two new characters: Brianna – the daughter of Claire and Jamie – and Roger Wakefield – the adopted son of the Reverend Wakefield.

You can discover the trailer of Outlander just below while waiting for the show to be back on April 9!
