New Black Panther Concept Art Reveals Wakanda
February 14, 2017True to form, Marvel is the gift that keeps on giving. Today’s home video release of Dr. Strange features a Phase 3 sneak peak that brought with it brand new concept art from the upcoming Black Panther film, which arrives in almost exactly a year (wait, what? I’m not ready!). Although we don’t get a look at new characters just yet, the photos give us our first look into the advanced African nation of Wakanda.
In the comics, Wakanda is an isolated country that has never been conquered, and is considered the most technologically advanced nation in the world. A military and scientific force to be reckoned with, Wakanda also sits on a major deposit of Vibranium, the incredibly rare metal that made Captain America’s shield and Black Panther’s suit and claws.
The photos show us a stunning skyline of tall glass structures hidden from the rest of the world by mountains and jungles, as well as a sleek counsel room embellished with historic statues – tradition mixed with technology, Wakanda’s trademark. Well… that and the panthers. You can’t forget the panthers. Have a look at the artwork for an idea of what to expect in 2018.
Marvel‘s Black Panther began shooting in Atlanta last month and is set to hit theatres February 16, 2018. The film stars Chadwick Boseman in the leading role alongside a stellar cast including Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Forest Whitaker, Sterling K Brown, Angela Bassett and Michael B. Jordan.
