American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy has teamed with Netflix for his next TV series called Ratched.

It will follow the early days of the classic character Nurse Ratched from Ken Kesey’s book One Flew Over The Cukoo’s Nest. The book was made into the infamous movie in 1975 that starred Jack Nicholson as McMurphy and Louise Fletcher as Ratched.

“From Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, Ratched is a suspenseful drama series that tells the origin story of asylum nurse Mildred Ratched,” reads the official description for the show. “In 1947, Mildred arrives in Northern California to seek employment at a leading psychiatric hospital where new and unsettling experiments have begun on the human mind. On a clandestine mission, Mildred presents herself as the perfect image of what a dedicated nurse should be, but the wheels are always turning and as she begins to infiltrate the mental health care system and those within it, Mildred’s stylish exterior belies a growing darkness that has long been smoldering within, revealing that true monsters are made, not born.”

The upcoming series will star Sarah Paulson as Mildred Ratched and has a cast that includes Cynthia Nixon, Judy Davis, Sharon Stone, and Jon Jon Briones.

Ratched premieres on Netflix September 18th.
