Netflix Announces ‘Lucifer’ Season Five Premiere Date

On Tuesday, Netflix announced that there will indeed be a season six for Lucifer and that yes, that WILL be the final season.

More good news: Season five finally got a premiere date, although with a twist. August 21st will see the beginning of season five but the sixteen-episode season is being split in half. No word on when the second half of season five will premiere, or the total episode count for season six.

It will be interesting to see what the showrunners do with Lucifer. Originally, season five was announced as the last season and apparently shot as such, with the title of the final episode in the season called “A Chance at a Happy Ending”.

It was only three weeks ago that leading man Tom Ellis officially agreed to terms to come back for season six, following a months-long standoff that had many convinced that season five would indeed be the final season.
