Netflix Announces Their First Movie ProductionSeptember 29, 2014
Netflix is moving forward with the announcement of their first full length film.
Netflix is going to bring Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend to Netflix streaming as of August 28th, 2015. Netflix also has released two images of the film as well.
Director and choreographer Yuen Wo-Ping (Kill Bill, The Matrix Trilogy) will be directing the project, and the film stars Michelle Yeoh, reprising her role as Yu Shu-Lien with Donnie Yen (Ip Man, Monkey King 3D) as Silent Wolf.
The film will be based on the acclaimed novel, “Iron Knight, Silver Vase,” by Wang Dulu (book 5 in the “Crane-Iron” Pentalogy) and written by John Fusco (Marco Polo), the new film is produced by Harvey Weinstein (The King’s Speech, The Artist) and Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, Lone Survivor).
This is just the first of several films that are being planned by Netflix to be released over the next few years, and hope to change the way films are presented to the movie going public. This would allow those who do not go out and sit in the theatre a way to see new blockbusters in the comfort of their own home.
The film is also set to release in select IMAX theatres as well.
