Kingpin Has Been Cast in Daredevil

Hell’s Kitchen has its first villain.

Marvel has announced that Vincent D’Onofrio (Men in Black, Full Metal Jacket) has been cast as Wilson Fisk AKA The Kingpin in the forthcoming Daredevil series on Netflix.

The show runner for Daredevil, Steven S. DeKnight, had a warm welcome for D’Onofrio via Twitter, [blockquote]“Huge welcome to the amazing Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk! A spectacular addition to the Daredevil family! #daredevil”[/blockquote]

The head of Marvel’s television division, Jeph Loeb, also released a statement regarding the casting of D’Onofrio; “We’re incredibly proud to have an actor with the gravitas and versatility of Vincent joining ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’ in such an integral role,” said Loeb. “Wilson Fisk is an iconic villain whose cunning and power make him the dangerous equal of our hero.”

D’Onofrio will be joining Boardwalk Empire’s Charlie Cox who has already been cast in the titular role of Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the series. In the comics Fisk is described as “a powerful businessman whose interests in the future of Hell’s Kitchen will bring him into conflict with the blind lawyer Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil.”

Daredevil will have a 13-episode run and is currently set for release in 2015 premiere.
