It’s Official: Arrow’s Stephen Amell To Wrestle At Summerslam

After months of not-so-subtle hints and teases, it’s finally been confirmed – WWE’s Summerslam pay-per-view on 23rd August will include the wrestling debut of Arrow‘s Stephen Amell.

Amell has never been shy about his love of pro-wrestling, and has engaged in a Twitter ‘feud’ with WWE Superstar Stardust (otherwise known as Cody Rhodes, the son of Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes) for months.

This finally came to a head on Raw last night during a match between King Barrett and Neville, as you can see from the video below.

Then, in a segment with the WWE’s Chief Operating Officer, HHH, we finally got the news we had been waiting for – Amell will team up with Neville against Stardust and King Barrett in a tag team match at Summerslam.

The King of Sports has a long and incredibly varied history when it comes to actors stepping into the squared circle. The most successful was undoubtedly Andy Kaufman (Taxi), whose feud with Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler in Memphis made headlines across the world and even featured in the movie Man on the Moon.

On the other hand, David Arquette (Scream) somehow becoming world champion in WCW was one of the many nails in the coffin for the promotion before it went out of business in 2001.

You can watch Summerslam live on the WWE network or on pay-per-view on 23rd August.
