Happy Day of Dredd!
September 30, 2014Back in 2013, a campaign was started with one statement and one goal, Make a Dredd Sequel!
The goal of course, was to raise awareness of the 2012 Dredd film (starring Karl Urban as the law), drive up DVD and Blu-Ray sales and make fans voices heard that they loved the first film and are desperate for a sequel. The film was considered a flop in theatres with poor advertising and the choice to slap 3D in the title, but found love with fans loyal to the 2000 AD comic series and quickly became that of a ‘cult classic’.
Dredd fans want to celebrate the anniversary of the campaign with a Day of Dredd. They want fellow fans to buy Dredd if they haven’t, watch it with friends, talk about it online (using the hashtag #DayofDredd) — whatever they can to draw attention to the film and that includes signing 2000AD’s official petition.
“This is a fan-created, fan-run, fan-made campaign and that’s who makes it so special — the fans,” organizers explain in a statement, “Let’s show Hollywood that we’ve not gone away and we’re not going to take no for an answer. We want more of our favourite movie!”
So, let’s let Hollywood know that we don’t need another remake of an 80’s television show, we want them to make a Dredd sequel! Buy the movie, watch it, sign the petition and share your love of the film all over the internet with #DayofDredd!
If you don’t… judgement: 5 years in the Iso-Cubes.
