Under the Dome Summer Premiere

CBS has announced the premiere date and time slot for the much anticipated 13 episode mini-series, Under the Dome based on the Stephen King novel of the same name.

For those who do not know, the Amazon.ca synopsis of the book is; “On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day, a small town is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and rain down flaming wreckage. A gardener’s hand is severed as the dome descends. Cars explode on impact. Families are separated and panic mounts. No one can fathom what the barrier is, where it came from, and when—or if—it will go away. Now a few intrepid citizens, led by an Iraq vet turned short-order cook, face down a ruthless politician dead set on seizing the reins of power under the dome. But their main adversary is the dome itself. Because time isn’t just running short. It’s running out.”

The pilot will be directed by Niels Arden Oplev (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, 2009) but no deals have been made in regard to casting at this time. Regardless, promotion will begin during the Superbowl for the June 24th premiere. Under the Dome will live in the 10PM slot on CBS’s Monday night line-up.

Not much else has been revealed, which is a good thing for me because I am only 200 pages into this monster- but I’m sure as hell enjoying it and look forward to seeing it this summer on the small screen!
