Tom Hardy Leaves “Suicide Squad”

In December, Tom Hardy was announced to join the all-star cast of the upcoming DC movie, Suicide Squad. But today it is reported that he has dropped out of the film.

The news comes from The Hollywood Reporter. Reasons for Hardy’s departure are still unclear but the reason is thought to be his involvement in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s frontier drama “The Revenant” which has been said to be running longer then anticipated.

Tom Hardy was to play Rick Flag, the leader of the Suicide Squad. Still set to appear in the film is Jared Leto as the Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang and Cara Delevigne as Enchantress. As well as Viola Davis, who is reportedly nearing a multi-picture deal to play Amanda Waller.

Hardy will next be seen in Warner Bros.’ “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

Set to begin filming in mid-April in Toronto, “Suicide Squad” opens Aug. 5, 2016.
