It was a week of gifts with the X-Men Apocalypse trailer and the first glimpse at The BFG. But that is not all the exciting news we were presented with this week. There’s plenty more to gobble up. The Geeky Weekly has the news you may have missed from all that busy holiday shopping you have been up to.

And just think, less then a week away, the world will have a new Star Wars to talk about, as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, comes out!

∴ The first images of the new live action movie directed by David Yates. The Legend of Tarzan stars Alexander Skarsgård in the titular role, Margot Robbie as Jane, Samuel L. Jackson as George Washington Williams, Christoph Waltz as Captain Rom, and Djimon Hounsou as Chief Mbonga. John Hurt, Casper Crump, and Ella Purnel also star. The movie centers on Tarzan returning to the jungle after living in London to investigate a mining camp that has taken over his homeland. It will hit theaters on July 1.

∴ Famed writer Magaret Atwood is known for her books like The Handmaids Tale and The Blind Assassin, but now she is lending her literary talent to pen a graphic novel for Dark Horse. Titled Angel Catbird, and illustrated by Johnnie Christmas, the novel tells the story of the unlikely superhero, who due to a splicing problem, is half-bird and half-cat. It’s a book safe for all ages, and is in conjunction with the charities Keep Cats Safe and Save Bird Lives. The graphic novel will be released next fall. Atwood has previously contributed to Hope Nicholson’s The Secret Loves of Geek Girls.
