Will ‘The New Mutants’ Ever Be Released in Theaters?

It figures.

The one X-Men movie I was really looking forward to has turned into a production nightmare.

Originally, the movie was supposed to be released on April 13, 2018. Then it got pushed to February 2019, then August 2019 and now Disney has come out with the newest release date, that being April 3, 2020.

The New Mutants was supposed to take a group of young mutants and do a horror-spin on the usual superhero genre film. Sounds good, right? The problem is, no one could really agree on the direction of the horror in the film. Should it be really dark and violent? A little less of both? More of one than the other? Originally the film was supposed to be rated PG-13 but word is when the reshoots started happening the film became more horror than anything else.

With constant premiere dates being moved, due to reshoots and conflicts with other films, there is word that Disney might just dump the film on a streaming service like Hulu or Disney + depending on what rating it eventually gets. I would think that the theater is still the logical choice but at this point, there are no guarantees at all when it comes to The New Mutants.
