Why you should be paying attention to #PerformanceMattersSeptember 23, 2015
There is a really good reason that #PerformanceMatters has been trending on twitter today, and here is a rundown of what it is.
Lately there has been some rumbling in the meeting rooms, and offices surrounding the voice acting community, especially when it comes to video game voice actors. SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) members may be going on strike soon due to the mistreatment of their members in the video game industry.
The actors are looking for back-end bonus rates, which means that if the game does well to a certain point (2 million or more in revenue) the voice actors get a certain cut as a bonus. Also actors are looking at stunt pay due to all the mo-cap that is being done in current gen games, and with the evolving landscape of gaming it will be necessary.
There has been alot of buzz on twitter about this as well with prominent voice actors using the hashtags #PerformanceMatters and #iamonboard2015 to show their support or voice their concerns about the looming strike.

As far as I can see the voice actors are not asking for anything outside of what they should get for doing a job that is constantly changing and evolving as video games change and evolve themselves.
I just hope that something gets worked out and we can continue to see top quality games get produced and voiced by awesome voice actors.
