Coming back to reprise the role of the infamous Wookie, Chewbacca.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, actor Peter Mayhew will reprise his role as Han Solo’s co-pilot, the Wookie Chewbacca, a role he also played in the original trilogy and in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Mayhew recently cancelled an appearance at a convention in Texas “due to filming”, which is great news considering the actor has faced health issues in the past, including undergoing a double knee replacement in late 2013.

This news comes on the heels of Disney head Alan Horn revealing this week that J.J Abrams’ Episode VII has already started filming, stating that while the cast has not been filled out 100%, that the script is where it needs to be “now” and filming can begin.

“We have a lot of them in place.” Horn said of the cast. “We’re just not completely done yet.”

There has not been any official confirmation that original trilogy stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher would be returning.

Star Wars Episode: VII is expected in theatres December, 18th 2015.
