Star Wars Casting RumoursJanuary 12, 2014
After months of hearing nothing, we finally have some info on who we may see in the new movies.
Last night the Hollywood Reporter dropped a shortlist of some suspected actors that are auditioning for the new movies. This is very interesting news, since this week there was a report that Breaking Bad’s Jesse Plemons was in talks with JJ Abrams for a role in the movie, but no word on what that role could be.
According to HR, the newest names that can be added to the rumour mill are Michael Fassbender, Hugo Weaving, and Adam Driver (from HBO’s Girls). Driver recently was also rumoured to be in talks to be Nightwing in the new Batman vs. Superman movie as well.
With these names available we start to wonder who they could be in this upcoming film. Fassbender is still young enough to be the son of Luke, or could even be a villain such as Brakiss. Hugo Weaving always seems to get pigeon-holed into being a bad guy, so we can expect him to be some type of Imperial officer. Driver could very well fit into the role of Anakin Solo, but we will have to wait and see on that.
Some other news that came out is that Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan (helped write screenplay for Empire and Jedi) will be doing a massive overhaul on the script. This could mean many positive things for the upcoming movie with possible additions and cuts from the long list of actors who have been rumoured to be in the movie up until this point.
The movie is set to come out in 2015, so we have a while to worry about what this is actually going to be and what the final product is going to look like. Regardless though I am very excited to see where it goes next.
