Stan Lee to Create New Superhero for ‘Lucky Man’ TV ShowMarch 31, 2015
Comics legend Stan Lee is to create a brand new superhero character, who will star in Lucky Man, a new Sky 1 TV show in the UK.
Lee, whose list of previous comic creations includes the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Iron Man and Daredevil, will be working alongside the Emmy and Golden Globe winning firm Carnival Films to produce the show.
Lucky Man will detail the story of Harry Clayton (played by James Nesbitt, of The Hobbit fame), a down-on-his-luck cop estranged from his wife and kids because of his gambling habit, and in debt to an underworld crime boss who is threatening to kill him.
However, a meeting with a mysterious woman ends with Clayton in possession of an ancient bracelet which appears to give him control over luck itself.
Talking about the show, Stan Lee said:
“Luck has always been a fascinating subject to me, and I am excited to finally share that fascination with audiences around the world. With all the creative projects I have worked on, I sure am a lucky man myself and I am excited to be working with Sky 1 and Carnival Films on this latest project.”
Meanwhile executive producer Richard Fell has promised a “different kind of superhero show…which brings the whole superhero genre right back down to earth”.
Also cast in the show, which will debut on Sky 1 in 2016, are Eve Best (Nurse Jackie), Sienna Guillory (Luthor) and Omid Djalili (Gladiator).
Lucky Man will be distributed globally by NBCUniversal International Distribution.
