Seth Gordon to Helm Uncharted
February 4, 2014Great news for all of you Uncharted fans out there, we may finally get a movie!
For a very long time now we have been waiting on good news like this; that Naughty Dog’s Uncharted would hit the big screens and we could watch all of Nathan Drake’s amazing adventures unravel on screen. There have been a lot of rumors surrounding the making of an Uncharted film, including directors Neil Burger and David O. Russell, but now we have something a little more concrete. Currently, Seth Gordon (of Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief directing fame), is said by Deadline to be in negotiations with Sony to direct the live-action adaptation of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. The most recent script for the film (having gone through a change or two before) has been done by David Guggenheim (Safehouse) and their next step after finding their director is of course, casting Nathan Drake, which could be a very delicate matter.
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune synopsis: “A 400-year-old clue in the coffin of Sir Francis Drake sets a modern-day fortune hunter on an exploration for the fabled treasure of El Dorado, leading to the discovery of a forgotten island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The search turns deadly when Nathan Drake becomes stranded on the island and hunted by mercenaries. Outnumbered and outgunned, Drake and his companions must fight to survive as they begin to unravel the terrible secrets hidden on the Island.”
If set up well, this will easily be this generations Indiana Jones, and I’m perfectly alright with that.
