Roberto Orci Confirmed as New Star Trek Director

Will be directing the 13th installment of the Star Trek franchise.

Just a few days after Karl Urban said Roberto Orci would be the prefect director for the next installment in the reboot of the Star Trek series, Variety has announced he will be taking up the mantle as director.

Roberto Orci, whom Karl Urban states, “He gets Star Trek”, helped pen the 2009 and 2012 Star Trek titles, and has expressed interest in directing in the past. He is currently writing the script with the help of J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay.

While there is no official word on production, Karl Urban told crowds during his panel at Ottawa Comic Con that filming is slated to begin in early 2015.
