June 24, 2014 0 By EVA

This week in comics is going to be a fun one for everyone out there. We have some great titles hitting the racks and some awesome collector pieces if you are a Superman fan. I don’t usually put them on the list but if you missed out on some things like Doomed and just wanted to pick it up so you could read it, there are a bunch of second printings coming out so you get another chance to grab up some great stories. DC and Marvel are definitely coming out in full swing this week and most of the publishers are following suit with some anticipated next issues as well. Let’s get right down to the goods so you are ready for Wednesday.

Dark Horse Comics

Serenity: Leaves on the Wind #6

Firefly fans following this series can breathe a sigh of relief as this issue wraps up the mini series. While most of us are begging for more episodes on TV, will this series leave you begging for more comics too?

“Mal’s plan B — a plan he didn’t like when he made it-has gone into action, and the Serenity has come out of hiding. With his crew, one victim, and a hostage, Mal is ready to fight the Alliance head on-but first, they are going to rescue Zoe, no matter what!”

DC Comics

Batman #32

Snyder and Capullo are still running strong on this series. This week brings us closer to wrapping up the fantastic Zero Year for Batman.

“The penultimate issue of ZERO YEAR is here! Batman gets one step closer to the endgame with The Riddler as the final chapter of ZERO YEAR: SAVAGE CITY draws closer to its stunning finale!”

New 52 Futures End #8

“Welcome to Cadmus Island, Grifter! We hope your visit is – survivable! Plus: Who is the strange being from the temple in southeast Asia – and why should John Constantine find him of great interest?”

Superman #32

The wait is finally over. John Romita Jr. and Geoff Johns take over the Superman title this month with a kick start of a new story. Look for this issue to come out with a bunch of variants including a blank cover.

“THE MAN OF TOMORROW” chapter 1!A NEW ERA for SUPERMAN begins as Geoff Johns takes the reigns – and he’s joined by the legendary super-talent of John Romita, Jr. in his first-ever work for DC Comics as they introduce Ulysses, the Man of Tomorrow, into the Man of Steel’s life. This strange visitor shares many of Kal-El’s experiences, including having been rocketed from a world with no future. Prepare yourself for a run full of new heroes, new villains and new mysteries! Plus, Perry White offers Clark a chance to return to The Daily Planet!”

IDW Publishing

Ghostbusters #17

If you’ve never jumped into a Ghostbusters comic, you’ve been missing all the stuff you probably wanted in a third movie. With it announced that this series will be wrapping up at issue 20, fans will be flocking to the shops to grab this one for sure.

“New York’s unknown dead are buried on Hart Island… and their spirits are about to be stirred, raised and conscripted into an army with but one purpose: raising chaos on the streets of Manhattan. The second half of Mass Hysteria! begins here in our celebration of 30 years of Ghostbusters!”

Image Comics

Chew #42

Fans of this series have been waiting patiently and this is a very anticipated end issue. Layman and Guillory bring this series to life each and every issue.

“‘CHICKEN TENDERS,’ Part Two No animals were hurt during the making of this comic.”

Invincible #112

This is one of my personal favorites each and every month and if you’ve ever picked up this book and read it, you would know why some would consider this one of Robert Kirkman’s best series to date alongside The Walking Dead.

“Robot continues his quest to take over the world, traveling down a blood-drenched path littered with fallen friends.”

Outcast #1

Kirkman is back at it again with another horror title. Be sure to see what is sure to be the next biggest title is like this week with the first issue.

“NEW HORROR SERIES FROM THE WALKING DEAD CREATOR ROBERT KIRKMAN! Kyle Barnes has been plagued by demonic possession all his life and now he needs answers. Unfortunately, what he uncovers along the way could bring about the end of life on Earth as we know it.”

Marvel Comics

Amazing Spider-Man #3

Not to worry Spidey fans, I’ve got you covered. This is another amazing week with the wall crawler himself, featuring not one, but two Spidey comics!

“Because of her last encounter with Spider-Man, Felicia Hardy lost everything. Now the Black Cat is back, and she doesn’t want any apologies or excuses… just REVENGE. Plus: Spidey teams up with a real hero, fireman Pedro Olivera… who just happens to be the current boyfriend to one Mary Jane Watson. And… more on you-know-who from the opening scene back in ASM #1. You know who we’re talking about. Yeah, that’s right. You better not miss this one!”

Spider-Man Spectacular #1

“Four titanic tales set in Spider-Man’s past! Young Peter Parker has mastered his newfound spider-powers, but how will being the Amazing Spider-Man affect his personal life? Can Peter keep his secret identity from Aunt May, and his high-school crush Liz Allan? Spider-Man’s luck is about to get worse, as an experimental serum transforms millionaire Harry Osborn into the villainous Green Goblin! Spider-Man soon finds himself locked in a battle high above the streets – with Aunt May caught in the middle! Can Spidey triumph with a little help from his new fan club? When Kraven the Hunter puts Spider-Man in his sights, can the webbed wonder save himself from becoming the catch of the day?”

Savage Hulk #1

Great news Hulk fans, there’s another new series coming out this week. Look for some variants of this preimere issue on the rack as well.

“AN ALL-NEW SERIES!!! Alan Davis writes and draws a blockbuster story pitting the HULK against… the X-MEN!?!?! Learn the startling secret of Professor Xavier’s connection to Bruce Banner! Guest starring the Leader and the Abomination!”

Wolverine #9

The end of Wolvie is winding down quickly. Be sure to start picking this up now as we come closer to the much anticipated death of Wolverine.

“Stranded in Japan, Logan confronts his future… and it ain’t a bright one. It’s all lead up to this – the next chapter of Wolverine’s life begins now! Three Months to Die – The title says it all!”

That wraps up a spectacular week in comics, so I hope you didn’t intend on going to the shop and only picking up one or two. With so many great stories and titles coming out I`m starting to think we are all going to have to start allocating a bigger budget or go back to trading with your friends like when we were kids!
