Pacific Rim Convention Trailer
April 29, 2013Originally intended to only been shown twice, both at WonderCon and CinemaCon, Warner Bros. has released the convention trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim.
Pacific Rim stars Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, Clifton Collins Jr., Rinko Kikuchi and Robert Maillet.
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanities resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankinds last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Words can’t describe how happy I am that this is a Del Toro movie. Between this and JJ doing Star Wars and Star Trek, it almost makes up for Michael Bay making the Transformers movies. These types of movies need to be made by nerds like JJ and Del Toro. These guys are actual fans of these things and they’re able to make what they love.
