Mortal Kombat: Legacy Gets a Third Season
June 21, 2014When Machinima first introduced us to its live action take on the Mortal Kombat franchise with Mortal Kombat: Legends, we didn’t know what to expect. But, after watching the first season of the web series, fans everywhere were hooked! It was such a success Warner Bros. signed the series up for another season (and inspired thoughts of a film) and it looks like that’s the case again.
The second season didn’t impress the fans or myself as much as the first season did and because of the fans upheaval over the second season, mainly having to do with the ending of the season, Director Kevin Tancharoen has dropped out of the film version for MK. There have been some reports of Tancharoen leaving the series all together, however, that seemed to have changed when Tancharoen started to talk to Warner Bros. about a third season.
While Warner Bros. has not officially announced the third season themselves, an actor in the series has already started to post about it. Casper Van Dien, who plays Johnny Cage, posted an image of himself on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram with the caption that he’s getting ready for a third season. So far there are no details as to when the third season will start or even if Tancharoen will still be director. It’s not clear if he will move on from the franchise as he once previously stated.
Let us know how you feel! Are you ready for a third season to redeem the series? Or did the second season leave you not interested in the third season?
