Gotham Is Saved!

San Francisco becomes Gotham to make one little boys wish come true.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation helped bring 5 year old Miles Scott’s dream come true by turning the city into Gotham City and Miles as Batman. Thousands of people lined the street to cheer on “The Batkid” while he fought crime and met with city officials.

“We are eternally grateful and humbled by the outpouring of love and compassion we’ve received since Miles had his wish to be Batkid.” Parents Nick and Natalie Scott told media.

Miles was diagnosed with Leukemia, which has since gone into remission, but this didn’t stop the outpouring of support by the citizens of San Francisco and thousands online.

With the insurmountable amount of support, Batkid took on the likes of The Riddler and The Penguin, while saving citizens in need or tied up along the way. His quest for the day had a planned event list of tasks required for him to do to save Gotham City. First on the list was saving a damsel in distress on the streets. Batkid finds a woman tied up and helps rescue her before moving on to the next task. From there he gets to ride in The Batmobile, which was a Lamborghini that had been donated for the event and transformed. After riding through the streets of Gotham, Batkid must confront The Riddler during a bank robbery. Many actors volunteered their time to dress up and take part in the Batkid adventure. After saving the city from The Riddler, just like any normal superhero, Batkid stops for lunch. It’s a tough job fighting crime you know, and we have to keep our strength up. After lunch, we run into a extremely monumental moment. President Barack Obama sends out a Vine video to Batkid, which also happens to be President Obama`s first ever Vine video.

With the inspiration of the president behind him, Batkid learns that his job as a hero is not over yet. The San Francisco Giants mascot, Lou Seal, has been kidnapped by The Penguin. making his way down to AT&T Park, Batkid finds the mascot caged and saves the day again. In finalizing his day, the San Francisco mayor Edwin Lee meets Batkid at City Hall to present him a key to the city and thank him for saving the day.

But the heroism doesn’t stop there. Since the time Batkid spent saving the city, there has been a Batkid Fund set up and partnered with the San Francisco 49er’s Foundation. The Batkid Fund will raise money for three organizations: Make-A-Wish, the Ronald McDonald House and the Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Portland, Oregon.
