Game On 2.0 Comes to the Ontario Science Centre
February 5, 2013I almost fell over when I came across this today.
The Ontario Science Centre in Toronto, Ontario is hosting Game On 2.0 from March 9 – September 2, 2013. This very successful exhibit of the history and future of video gaming is finally in Toronto, and I will definitely be there to try it out. The Game On exhibit started at the Barbican Art Centre in London in 2002, showcasing a historical view of video gaming from the early arcade days to present. It has toured the world over the past 10 years, hitting cites like Tokyo, Seattle, Helsinki, and even Tel Aviv, Israel.
Now hitting Canadian shores, we can expect a lot from the exhibit to dazzle our eyes, and wear out our thumbs. It will showcase the culture that was spawned by video games and it’s characters, including print media, cartoons, and movies. You will learn the history of Mario, Sonic, and a long forgotten Bandicoot, as well as try out some of the legends of video gaming. Game On will have a full arcade of old and new titles, including Pac Man, Asteroids, Akumajo Dracula, Mario Kart 64, Prince of Persia, Uncharted and one of my favorites as a kid that I can’t wait to play on an arcade unit, MAPPY!!!.
This may not be for every gamer, but for someone like me, this is heaven.
sounds like a Pixel Dreams friducation. great post!
