Paul Bettany Talks The Vision
April 14, 2014Appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Friday.
In Feburary, it was announced to the surprise of Marvel fans everywhere that Paul Bettany was cast as The Vision in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron. Well-known for being the voice of Tony Stark’s AI J.A.R.V.I.S. for years, everyone has been excited for the prospect of what The Vision can bring to the Avengers team. Bettany had the chance to talk about The Vision on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night — rather, he said all that he could while remaining completely secretive about the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron film.
When asked about what powers The Vision would possess and/or show off on screen during the new film, Bettany replied:
[blockquote]”Oh I can do all sorts of things, but I’m not allowed to really talk about them and what we’re going to do because there might be a Marvel agent in the room who will actually wrestle me to the ground and fire me. It’s very exciting for me, but everything is a double edged sword, right?[/blockquote]
Vision is an artificial intelligence, a “synthezoid” created by the villain Ultron, and an Avenger who possesses the power to alter his density at will. Having gained a modicum of humanity, Vision is always afraid he may one day lose touch with it. He also has a massive list of powers that the creators of the film are going to be able to pick and choose from including electronic disruption, holographic projection, phasing, levitation, invisibility and shapeshifting to name a few.
