Shutter Island Comes to HBO

In 2010, the thriller Shutter Island took to theatres with a formidable cast roster that included Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Michelle Williams, Ben Kingsley and Jackie Earle Haley. Now sitting pretty at #213 on IMDb’s Top 250, news has come from Deadline that we may see a Shutter Island series on HBO.
Tentatively titled “Ashecliffe”, after the name of the institution for the criminally insane that DiCaprio and Ruffalo visit as US marshals investigating a mysterious missing persons case, the shows pilot script is set to be penned by Dennis Lehane (author of the book the film was based on) and Tom Bernardo, and directed by Martin Scorsese.
Deadline writes: The focus is the past of hospital, and the secrets and misdeeds perpetrated by its founders who erected the hospital in the early 20th Century and developed the methods of treatment use for the mentally ill.
