Xbox One Backwards Compatibility?

Xbox One Backwards Compatibility?

There are plans, but they seem to be in the very rough stages of development.

The bright minds at Microsoft have confirmed that they are working on the plans to make Xbox 360 games playable on their new platform the Xbox One. This comes straight from development lead Frank Savage at Microsoft’s Build developer conference:

[blockquote]“There are [plans to make the Xbox One backwards compatible]. But we aren’t done thinking them through yet unfortunately. It turns out to be hard to emulate the PowerPC stuff on the x86 stuff. So there’s nothing to announce, but I’d love to see it myself too.”[/blockquote]

Last year, Microsoft had mentioned that it may be possible to have backwards compatibility due to their Azure cloud servers. Right now though, the only way to play the previous generation games is to keep your old Xbox 360. Would you buy the new generation console if it meant you could play all of your favorites on the system?
