The Truth is Still Out There: Fox releases new tease for the return of The X-Files

The X-Files return to broadcast television in January with a mission: to bring viewers the truth that the series finale didn’t offer.

The familiar theme music is enough to inspire nostalgic thoughts of long past Friday evenings; hiding under blankets in the dark, with only wide eyes visible, peering out at the screen.

Showing a noticeably older Mulder and Scully, the teaser hits the right notes of reminding people of why they loved The X-Files in the first place: the intrigue, the chemistry between its leads, and the mystery surrounding its cast of shadowy villains. In this case, represented by a burning cigarette and a voice that offers only: “We have a small problem.”

Yeah, the problem is that the show doesn’t premiere until January. That’s the problem.

The teasers have done enough. But will the show meet the overwhelming expectations?
