Singer Talks Apocalypse
April 11, 2014Who will be returning and who they are looking to cast for the May 27, 2016 film.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, X-Men director Bryan Singer and producer/writer Simon Kinberg couldn’t wait to talk Apocalypse, even with X-Men: Days of Future Past right around the corner. Singer says the film will be ‘somewhat’ based on the popular mid-90s comic storyline in “Age of Apocalypse”;
[blockquote]“[The movie] won’t necessarily create an alternate universe, but there may be some swapping things that I’m playing with,” Singer told EW.[/blockquote]
“From a visual standpoint it actually may be a bigger movie than Days of Future Past because there’ll be disaster movie imagery, like the title would imply.” said Kinberg.
Singer also said that the events in Days of Future Past will set up what’s to come in Apocalypse. “You won’t feel at the end of the movie that it set up Apocalypse. What it does is it sets up possibilities. But what we’ll discover in Apocalypse is that events in this movie made that happen.”
Apocalypse will also see the return of some Days of Future Past cast members, Singer confirmed to EW. Returning cast members are to include James McAvoy (Charles Xavier), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast) and Michael Fassbender (Magneto) but Singer said he would also like to add younger versions of Gambit and Nightcrawler.
“I’m excited because I want to start introducing familiar characters at different ages and also explore the ’80s,” He said.
