Seth Gilliam Cast as Walking Dead Series Regular

Will have a recurring role in the fifth season of The Walking Dead.

Today The Hollywood Reporter announced that Seth Gilliam has been cast as a series regular on the fifth season of The Walking Dead. The actor, with previous work in Teen Wolf, The Wire, and Oz, will make his appearance when the show begins to air this fall.

There is no word yet on who he will play, but THR‘s best guess is that he may be playing Gabriel Stokes, who was a reverend of a local community church before the apocalypse. In the comics, Rick encounters him in issue 61 and he spends a rather rough time with the group of survivors who are wary of him and don’t trust him. The character is still alive in the comics, which are now on issue 126 (with issue 127 being released on May 14th).

Gilliam is the latest actor to be added to the list of series regulars, joining Alanna Masterson (Tara), Andrew J. West (Gareth), and Christian Serratos (Rosita) who were all promoted to regulars after recurring roles in season 4.

The Walking Dead season five will return to AMC in October, 2014.
