Happy Birthday Gene Roddenberry
August 19, 2023Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek, was born August 19, 1921. He would be 102 years old today.
Well ahead of his time, Roddenberry envisioned a time where the petty squabbles of the 20th and 21st centuries were behind humanity – and we turned our attention to the stars.
In 2021, Comic Book Resources calculated that it would take more than 650 hours to watch the entire Star Trek catalogue. That’s movies, TV shows, cartoons, short treks; everything. Of course that doesn’t include the final seasons of Star Trek Discovery, Strange New Worlds, or Lower Decks, so that total has certainly increased.
It’s always a good day to celebrate Star Trek – but today is a great one, to remember its creator fondly.
