Elizabeth Banks Cast As Rita Repulsa

According to the Hollywood Reporter, actress Elizabeth Banks (Hunger Games, Wet Hot American Summer) has been cast as the villain Rita Repulsa in the Power Rangers reboot film.

Banks will be playing the part made famous by actress Barbara Goodson in the 1990’s. Goodson played Repulsa in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series, as well as movies that were released originally. Since then Goodson has made a name for herself as an English voice actor for many anime series such as Naruto, Digimon, and Ghost in the Shell.

The film will be directed by Dean Israelite and starring Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, R.J. Cyler as the Blue Ranger and Becky Gomez as the Yellow Ranger. The film is set to release in 2017.
